The letters of the ancient Greek and Hebrew alphabets were used to also denote numbers. This gave rise to the practice of gematria, in which the numerical values of words were used for symbolic purposes. In some instances, this practice was consciously employed in ancient times, as in the case of the gnostic solar divinity Abraxas, whose name in Greek totals 365, the number of days in a solar year. Throughout the diagrams of the Number, Music, Geometry, and Astronomy sections, I have pointed out connections with significant values in Greek gematria. — Connie Achilles

The Greek Alphabet

This chart shows the standard numerical values of the ancient Greek letters. In ancient Greece, number values were normally represented through combinations of letters.

The Divisors, Gematria, and Musical Gematria of 3168

This series of charts breaks key gematria numbers down according to their divisors.

In these diagrams, the main number is analyzed as a “molecule”—composed of “atoms” (basic divisors), “electrons” (multiple divisor rings), and “bonds” (the pairing multiples). Gematria values of the sets of sub-elements composing the main values are shown. Each indicated pair of numbers when multiplied together equals the main value.
